Dear [Decision Maker],

Thank you for your efforts to prioritize suicide prevention and mental health during this unprecedented public health crisis. The United States was already experiencing rising rates of suicide and increasing incidence of mental health conditions before the COVID-19 pandemic. We need our federal government to prioritize taking care of both the physical ramifications of this disease and also the mental health impact on all of us.

The National Suicide Hotline Designation Act (H.R.4194/ S.2661) is landmark legislation to make mental health crisis services more accessible by designating "988" as the easy to remember hotline number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. This bicameral, bipartisan legislation will save lives by improving the U.S. mental health infrastructure, encouraging help-seeking for those in need, and ensuring crisis resources are more accessible as needs continue to grow.

The need to respond to our country's growing mental health and suicide crises is urgent. Thank you again for working to address the mental health and suicide crisis, and providing relief to Americans who are struggling during this time. We urge the House to quickly pass the National Suicide Hotline Designation Act.

Sincerely,
