Dear [Decision Maker],

Our country is facing the most drastic public health emergency in modern history and this crisis is having a devastating impact on mental health. I am writing to request that Congress act now to include urgently needed funding and policy changes in the fourth emergency relief package to improve access to mental health and substance use services and supports.

A recent Kaiser Family Foundation poll found that the majority of Americans feel that the current pandemic is harming their mental health. Mental Health America's (MHA's) Online Screening Program has seen an over 60 percent increase in the average number of daily anxiety screens and a 64 percent increase in depression screens, compared to pre-COVID-19. Congress needs to take immediate action to address these growing needs.

Funding for state and local mental health programs, suicide prevention, and expanded telehealth services all matter to me. I hope you will raise these issues to the forefront in COVID-19 response discussions, and stand up for all families in America adjusting to this new normal.
